Dcau the creepr12/20/2023 He spies on a lady in the bathroom, and hops off with a nice Buttons & Mindy reference. We find Jack has turned into a crazed guy making crazy jokes and being crazy. Gosh Batman, if only you had.oh, I don't know, a partner or something, maybe one of you could go after Ryder while the other one fights Joker? If only. And Batman is all "oh no! It explodes, and there's a shot with a sign that says "no smoking" off to the side. Jack swims around in the acid, and Joker gives him a cigar. There are three of them, and they are voiced by Billy West. Joker takes this opportunity to shove him into a vat full of chemicals.īatman and Robin arrive and start pummeling the Joker's stooges. Reflector 212/19/2023 It is also what makes the Reflector seem like a chameleon to the rest of us. Protection from being overwhelmed by the emotions and energies of the other people around them. This resistant aura works as a protection mechanism for the Reflector. Secondly it reflects back all of what it receives from the other person. Firstly it samples or ‘tastes’ the auras of the people around it by taking in only a little piece of what it receives. The Reflector aura is a ‘resistant’ aura that does two things uniquely. Having an aura also gives us the ability to read and interpret other people’s auras. This aura extends up to 3 meters around the entire circumference of our body. This aura is our personal electromagnetic signature and tells every living thing around us what we are all about. Our human aura represents the holistic energy field that uniquely surrounds each and every one of us. An open inactivated center is always vulnerable to the affects of other people.īut the fundamental difference with a Reflector is the nature of their electromagnetic aura. If we were talking about any other type of human being this would indeed be the case. Without any reliable patterns of their own. On the face of it, with all those inactive centers, it would seem that a Reflector is constantly taking in other peoples’ energies and emotions. As a result, they give off an illusion about themselves that has nothing to do with who they really are. Every Center in their design is completely white. Reflectors have no energy or awareness Centers turned on and activated at birth. They make-up just 1% of the worlds’ population and are wholly different from the way the other 99% of human beings operate. The Reflector carries an extraordinary Human Design. They know exactly when a community is functioning properly and when it is not.

Sentence fragments examples12/19/2023 By adding “they were” to the beginning of this phrase, we have turned the fragment into an independent clause, which can now stand on its own: The phrase “the best ideas they had heard in years” is simply a phrase-there is no verb contained in the phrase. Ivana appeared at the committee meeting last week and made a convincing presentation of her ideas about the new product. There is no subject in this phrase, so the easiest fix is to simply delete the period and combine the two statements: Let’s look at the phrase “And made a convincing presentation of her ideas about the new product” in example one. Which she eventually sent to her supervisor with the strongest of recommendations. She spent a full month evaluating his computer-based instructional materials. The best ideas that they had heard in years. The committee considered her ideas for a new marketing strategy quite powerful. And made a convincing presentation of her ideas about the new product. Ivana appeared at the committee meeting last week.Let’s take a look at a couple of examples: Count how many times the word fragrant is used during commercial breaks.Commands are the only grammatically correct sentences that lack a subject: If you start a sentence with a coordinating conjunction, make sure that it is followed a complete clause, not just a phrase!Īs you’re identifying fragments, keep in mind that command sentences are not fragments, despite not having a subject. Relative pronouns, like that and which, do the same type of thing as those listed above.Ĭoordinating conjunctions (our FANBOYS) can also cause problems. This class of word includes the following: after For example “I was a little girl in 1995” is an independent clause, but “Because I was a little girl in 1995” is a dependent clause. Words like since, when, and because turn an independent clause into a dependent clause. In order for these to be clauses, they would need an additional verb that acts as a verb in the sentence. Since non-finite verbs don’t act like verbs, we don’t count them as verbs when we’re deciding if we have a phrase or a clause. Let’s look at a few examples of these:Įven though all of the above have non-finite verbs, they’re phrases, not clauses. Non-finite verbs (gerunds, participles, and infinitives) can often trip people up as well. Additionally, fragments often come about in writing because a fragment may already seem too long. However, there is a difference between writing and speech, and it is important to write in full sentences. Part of the reason we write in fragments is because we often speak that way. Let’s dive in and see just what makes these both fragments. Ensuring his own survival with his extensive cache of supplies (food, water, rope, tarps, knives, and a first aid kit).So how can we tell the difference between a sentence and a sentence fragment? And how can we fix fragments when they already exist?Īs you learn about fragments, keep in mind that length is not very helpful when determining if a sentence is a fragment or not. Both of the items below are fragments: These are grammatical structures that cannot stand on their own: they need to be connected to an independent clause to work in writing. We talked about phrases and clauses a bit in Text: Parts of a Sentence. Fragments are simply grammatically incomplete sentences-they are phrases and dependent clauses.

Half of a double helix12/19/2023 This is because there are two different ways that nucleotide bases are added. Lagging and leading strandsĭNA replication results in the formation of two different types of strands, initially. The polymerase is the enzyme that puts together the new DNA strand by bringing in nucleotides and aligning them opposite the corresponding bases. The primer molecule is a set sequence of nucleotides which have to be added before the next enzyme, the polymerase can act. This is the enzyme, in fact, which puts together the primer. Primase is another enzyme that plays an important role in DNA replication. The replication takes place in a 5’ to 3’ direction and it starts at a specific place on the strand which is known as the origin of replication. It is essential that the two strands of DNA are separated such that each can be used as a template for the creation of new strands. The enzyme helicase then becomes active and it works to catalyze the reaction in which the corresponding bases are separated by the breaking of the hydrogen bonds, between them. The reactions actually begin with a molecule called an initiator protein which works to unwind the helix. The process is thus called semiconservative because, in the end, each DNA helix will consist of one old and one new strand. Each of these original DNA strands acts as a template for the formation of new DNA strands. The process occurs during the S stage of interphase and is important since it ensures that the correct amount of genetic material is present in the cell before any type of division takes place.Īt the start of the process, the double helix of the molecule unwinds and the hydrogen bonds between the bases break. DNA replicationĭNA replication takes place during a specific stage of the cell cycle. This is useful since the DNA molecule often has to copy itself during interphase and before the cell divides. The bonds between these corresponding bases are hydrogen bonds, which are relatively weak and easily broken. These bases bond together in specific ways in order to connect the two strands of polynucleotides.Īdenine can only bond to thymine and guanine can only bond to cytosine. There are four types of nitrogen bases that occur in DNA molecules, namely, adenine, thymine, cytosine, and guanine. The sugar molecules and phosphate groups comprise the backbone of the DNA molecule, and they are linked together by phosphodiester bonds. The basic unit of the DNA molecule is the nucleotide which consists of a phosphate group, a deoxyribose sugar, and a nitrogen base. DNA – molecular structureĭNA is a nucleic acid which consists of two strands bonded together and twisted to form a double helix. The end result is that two new DNA double helices are formed. The polymerase then brings in free nucleotides which base pair with the old strand. The enzyme primase then assembles and attaches a primer molecule which is the starting point for the polymerase enzyme. The double helix is first unwound and then the hydrogen bases are broken by the enzyme helicase. In fact, each original DNA strand acts as a template to which new nucleotides bond. The replication of DNA is called semiconservative because each new molecule formed consists of one old strand and one new strand. The DNA is a nucleic acid made of several nucleotides in which each nucleotide is comprised of a phosphate group, a sugar molecule and one of four possible nitrogen bases, which attach in a specific way. The strands also twist to form the familiar double helix structure of the DNA. Diagram showing the process of DNA replication (LadyofHats Mariana Ruiz )Ī DNA molecule consists of two strands of several nucleotides bonded together by hydrogen bonds. This process takes place in the S stage of interphase before the cell enters mitosis or meiosis. DNA replication is an essential part of the cell cycle because there has to be enough genetic material for the cell to divide.

Goland free12/19/2023 In late medieval times, the island had twenty district courts ( tings), each represented by its elected judge at the island-ting, called landsting. Tofta Church, one of the island's many distinctive, well-preserved medieval churches.Įarly on, Gotland became a commercial center, with the town of Visby the most important Hanseatic city in the Baltic Sea. It is assumed that they were from Gotland. The Berezan' Runestone, discovered in 1905 in Ukraine, was made by a Varangian ( Viking) trader named Grani in memory of his business partner Karl. These coins moved north through trade between Rus merchants and the Abbasid Caliphate, along the Silver-Fur Road, and the money made by Scandinavian merchants would help northern Europe, especially Viking Scandinavia and the Carolingian Empire, as major commercial centers for the next several centuries. The total sum is almost as great as the number that has been unearthed in the entire Muslim world. In the various hoards located around the island, there are more of these silver coins than at any other site in Western Eurasia. The number of Arab dirhams discovered on the island of Gotland alone is astoundingly high. Then, after the land of the Burgundians, we had on our left the lands that have been called from the earliest times Blekingey, and Meore, and Eowland, and Gotland, all which territory is subject to the Sweons and Weonodland was all the way on our right, as far as Weissel-mouth. It gives Awair Strabain as the name of the man who arranged the mutually beneficial agreement with the king of Sweden the event would have taken place before the end of the 9th century, when Wulfstan of Hedeby reported that the island was subject to the Swedes: According to some historians, it is therefore an effort not only to write down the history of Gotland, but also to assert Gotland's independence from Sweden. It later tells that the Gutes voluntarily submitted to the king of Sweden and asserts that the submission was based on mutual agreement, and notes the duties and obligations of the Swedish King and Bishop in relationship to Gotland. It also tells that a third of the population had to emigrate and settle in southern Europe, a tradition associated with the migration of the Goths, whose name has the same origin as Gutes, the native name of the people of the island. Gutasaga contains legends of how the island was settled by Þieluar and populated by his descendants. Torsätra runestone ( U 614) raised in memory of one of the Swedish king's tribute collectors who fell ill and died during a trip to Gotland. From a military viewpoint, it occupies a strategic location in the Baltic Sea. The island's main sources of income are agriculture, food processing, tourism, information technology services, design, and some heavy industry such as concrete production from locally mined limestone. Its location in the centre of the Baltic Sea has historically given it great strategic importance. Gotland has been inhabited since approximately 7200 BC. In winter, Gotland usually remains surrounded by ice-free water and has mild weather. During summer Visby hosts the political event Almedalen Week followed by the Medieval Week, further boosting visitor numbers. Among reasons include the sunny climate and the extensive shoreline on mild water. The archipelago is a very popular domestic tourist destination for mainland Swedes, with the population rising to very high numbers during summers. In recent centuries, Swedish took over almost entirely and the island is virtually monolingually Swedish in modern times. Historically there was a linguistic difference between the archipelago and the mainland with Gutnish being the native language. Gotland is a fully integrated part of Sweden with no particular autonomy, unlike several other offshore island groups in Europe. In spite of the small size due to its narrow width, the driving distance between the furthermost points of the populated islands is about 170 kilometres (110 mi). The county formed by the archipelago is the second smallest by area and is the least populated in Sweden. The island of Gotland and the other areas of the province of Gotland make up less than one percent of Sweden's total land area. Outside Visby, there are minor settlements and a mainly rural population. The population is 58,595, of which about 23,600 live in Visby, the main town. The province includes the islands of Fårö and Gotska Sandön to the north, as well as the Karlsö Islands ( Lilla and Stora) to the west. It is also a province, county, municipality, and diocese. Gotland ( / ˈ ɡ ɒ t l ə n d/, Swedish: ( listen) Gutland in Gutnish), also historically spelled Gottland or Gothland ( / ˈ ɡ ɒ θ l ə n d/), is Sweden's largest island. |
